Social Connections Running Club

Without Limits Charleston will lead another season of the Social Connections Running Club in February and March of 2024. The Social Connections Running Club is for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). The program will be held on six consecutive Saturdays from February 10th through March 16th and is led by our certified coaches. The running group is designed with the following goals in mind:

1. To build running skills and confidence
2. For social opportunities in the context of running
3. To have fun without pressure
4. To exercise/expend energy which is beneficial for self-regulation and sensory-regulation

The club/program is aimed toward neurodiverse children 12-18 years old and is open to all running experience levels. Neurodiverse is defined here as average to above average intelligence and communication skills, but difficulty with social skills, executive function, and/or self-regulation. Exceptions can be made to the age range, but please reach out before registering to request more info. Practices will be 90 minutes long and held on Saturday mornings at 9am at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park.

Registration fee: $199.

Limited partial scholarships are available. Please email chris@iamwithoutlimits.com on how to request a scholarship.

Hydration and nutrition are important for this program. All athletes should bring water to every practice.

As part of the consideration for my child’s participation in the Without Limits Charleston youth running program, I hereby release, hold harmless, and forever discharge Jennifer Bennett, all assisting coaches, and the owner of any fields or facilities used from any and all liability, claims, demands, actions, and causes of action whatsoever arising out of or related to any loss, property damage, or personal injury, that may be sustained by me or my child or to any property belonging to me or my child while my child is participating in the program.

I acknowledge that my child’s participation in this program is elected by me and not required. I voluntarily assume full responsibility for any risk of loss, damage, or personal injury, including death, and for any property damage that may be sustained by me or my child as a result of my child’s participation in this program.

In the event of illness or injury, I hereby authorize the Without Limits Charleston Coaches, Staff, or Leaders to obtain emergency medical treatment through local emergency medical services or at a local hospital as deemed necessary, including the administration of an anesthetic or other medication and surgery, and I hereby assume the cost of such treatment. I understand that this authorization is given in advance of any specific diagnosis, treatment, or hospital care being required, but is given to provide authority and power on the part of Without Limits Charleston Coaches and Leaders, to give specific consent to the diagnosis, treatment, or hospital care which in the best judgement of a licensed physician is deemed advisable.
